multimedia / flash
there's good flash and bad flash
We discourage clients from using too much Flash and multimedia, for one main reason:
Of course getting people interested in the site itself is a goal of the site; but the whole point is to let users see your content and get a good impression of you, not to admire the web designer's expertise. Unnecessary "bells and whistles" distract from your message and reduce your site's effectiveness.
Still, sometimes a restrained use of Flash or multimedia gives a site needed impact, or can promote the site's goals. In those cases, we can create what you need.
for example...
We've used Flash on our homepage, for example, in order to:
- introduce our visual style, since visual style is important to ec+g's business.
- create user interest by showing quick flashes of the element logos, without being too explicit.
- show that we can, in fact, use Flash in a restrained way to enhance our site without distracting from our site's goals.
For extremely complex Flash applications, we can also bring in a dedicated Flash designer, but most sites need simple, elegant Flash content, for which we are well equipped.
